European patient organisations EUROPEAN MYELOMA PLATFORM and MYELOMA
EURONET have today officially announced at the European Hematology Association Meeting
in London that they have taken the decision to merge. Joining forces will provide a stronger
network and offer huge benefits to myeloma patients and their families across Europe.

EMP was represented at the IMW (International Myeloma Workshop) in Paris from May 3rd till May 6th, 2011. At this important workshop, an update was given on the concern of Second Primary Malignancies (SPMs) after lenalidomide maintenance therapy.

In the past 14 months,  EMP was represented in the EudraCT/TIG/JOG working group of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) (Greetje Goossens). This group has been working hard on the new public website on clinical trials in Europe.

Today, the new and so long awaited website is finally launched!! This is really good news for the patients, as it will increase the transparency and the information provision about clinical trials.

Revlimid® and second primary malignancies, is there a link?

Lenalidomide (Revlimid®) is an important medicine used in the treatment of Multiple Myeloma.
At present, lenalidomide in combination with dexamethason is indicated and licenced in Europe for the treatment of multiple myeloma patients who have received at least one prior therapy.

A lot of research is ongoing on the use of lenalidomide in other settings. More specifically the role of lenalidomide as first line treatment and the use of lenalidomide as maintenance therapy.
